Many bridal magazines and friends will recommend that you give your photographer a list of photos you want taken on the big day. While this is certainly a good idea, be aware that even with this list, your photographer may not make every shot. These lists are most helpful when a friend or family member is assigned to rally the right troops for the photo ops. Meaning – if you want lots of photos of your out-of-town guest, Aunt Susie, then make sure someone alerts her to that fact so she can be available for the camera, but also to point her out to the photographer since he or she won’t know every important family member or friend.

But besides shots of your best friends and family, we asked some of our favorite photographers what they recommend you get on your big day. Here are the most commonly recommended shots from the pros that you may or may not have thought of capturing:

1. Bride getting ready about an hour before the ceremony (putting the finishing touches on hair/makeup and the gown).
